Temple Scott Associates (TSA) is seeking candidates for the second year of its Pathway to Government Relations Internship – a paid internship program open to students currently enrolled in a post-secondary program, who are from an underrepresented BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) community. The program introduces the successful candidate to the government relations business, providing direct work experience in the sector to young BIPOC Canadians interested in a career in government relations.  Applicants to the program must meet the following criteria:

  • Enrolled in a relevant program at a Canadian post-secondary education institution;
  • Permitted to work in Canada; and,
  • Interested in exploring a career in government relations.

We are seeking a Researcher to join TSA’s Ottawa office (onsite) to support the advocacy efforts of TSA’s clients by assisting government relations practitioners with issues monitoring and research; preparation of written documents; and administrative and logistical support to government relations and event management initiatives.


  • Monitor federal and provincial legislation and proceedings, and prepare summaries as required.
  • Conduct ongoing media monitoring.
  • Review reports and policy announcement for decisions which affect TSA’s clients.
  • Conduct policy research as directed.
  • Assist with the writing and publication of policy papers and research support documents.
  • Coordinate and provide administrative and logistical support to Days on the Hill and/or miscellaneous events.


  • University degree in communications, political science, economics or comparable field.
  • Knowledge of government and the federal and provincial legislative process.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Experience with Parliament Hill is mandatory.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
