Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Consultant to join our team in Ottawa. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in government relations, policy analysis, and strategic counsel, along with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and government stakeholders. The required strong understanding of federal decision-making processes, combined with the valuable asset of experience working with officials in Quebec, would make you a great candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic advisor on key TSA accounts, providing high-level government relations support across sectors such as financial services, consumer products, energy, and transportation.
  • Manage day-to-day client relations, ensuring the delivery of exceptional service and long-term client satisfaction.
  • Design and execute government affairs strategies aligned with clients’ business and policy objectives at the federal and provincial levels, including within Quebec’s political and regulatory landscape.
  • Track and analyze relevant legislation, regulations, policy developments, and parliamentary activity; prepare timely and concise briefings and strategic recommendations.
  • Draft professional-grade materials, including briefing notes, policy summaries, correspondence, and government submissions.
  • Plan and coordinate stakeholder engagement initiatives, including client “Hill Days,” meetings with elected officials and senior public servants, and public policy consultations.
  • Leverage a strong and growing network of government and political contacts to support client advocacy and intelligence gathering, including experience liaising with Quebec government officials and provincial stakeholders.
  • Contribute to new business development through networking, proposal writing, and identifying emerging opportunities.
  • Work closely with a collaborative team in a flat, entrepreneurial environment.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in political science, public policy, economics, communications, or a related field.
  • 3–6 years of relevant experience in government relations, public policy, or a related environment (e.g. Parliament Hill, federal or provincial government, or a public
    affairs firm).
  • Required strong understanding of Canada’s federal and provincial legislative processes.
  • Experience engaging Quebec’s political institutions and policy-makers is a valuable asset.
  • Exceptional writing and research skills, with a keen eye for detail and clarity.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Demonstrated political acumen and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is a strong asset.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a high-performing team.

Position Overview:

Temple Scott Associates (TSA) is seeking an inquisitive Government Relations Researcher to work onsite at TSA’s Ottawa office.

As TSA’s Government Relations Researcher, you will play a key role to ensure the TSA Team is kept informed of the daily government announcements. This position is an opportunity for a politically engaged individual looking to launch a career in public affairs or government relations.

At TSA, we pride ourselves on providing fresh perspectives and supporting new talent. You will also assist TSA’s experienced professionals in providing support on high-profile projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor federal and provincial legislation, parliamentary activities and media by conducting daily monitoring and drafting summaries.
  • Conduct policy research as instructed that help shape client strategies.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for “Days on the Hill,” client meetings, and public affairs events.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in political science, economics, communications, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of the Federal and Provincial Government decision-making process and the federal legislative process.
  • Strong writing and research skills, with a keen eye for detail and clarity.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a high-performing and fast-paced environment.

TSA is seeking candidates for the fifth year of its Pathway to Government Relations Internship – a paid internship program open to students currently enrolled in a post-secondary program, who are from an underrepresented BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) community. The program introduces the successful candidate to the government relations business, providing direct work experience in the sector to young BIPOC Canadians interested in a career in government relations.  The candidate will work on-site at TSA’s Ottawa office during the term of the internship.

Applicants to the program must meet the following criteria:

  • BIPOC
  • Enrolled in a relevant program at a post-secondary education institution;
  • Permitted to work in Canada; and,
  • Interested in in government relations, public policy or Canadian politics.
