William (Bill) Simpkins, Senior Counsel, Atlantic Canada

Bill Simpkins has worked in government relations and strategic business planning for more than 35 years, with particular emphasis on the energy, environment and insurance industries.

Prior to his consulting career, Bill’s executive positions included Senior Director of Corporate Communications at Petro-Canada, where he managed government relations and public affairs for the Hibernia and Terra Nova offshore oil projects in Newfoundland and Labrador. He then joined the Canadian Petroleum Products Institute in Ottawa, where he served as Vice-President of Government Relations and National Communications. At CPPI, Bill was a key member of the strategic planning and management team.

Now working from Halifax, Bill provides TSA clients with outstanding knowledge of the Atlantic Canadian political and business landscape. He works closely and constructively with provincial, federal and municipal governments on regulatory, tax, energy, and environmental issues.

Bill also serves on a number of community liaison committees for energy-related projects. He is a member of the Nova Scotia Environment Roundtable, and served on the Nova Scotia Law Reform Commission’s Panel on Contaminated Sites Legislation.

Bill started his career as a journalist at the Calgary Herald. He has a degree from the University of Calgary and speaks both English and French.
