Ian Anderson Ian S. Anderson is founder and President of Temple Scott Associates Inc. He serves as TSA's senior strategist. Ian's projects include internationally recognized strategies and issues management counsel for major companies, associations, governments and NGOs.
His recent projects include working with Rick George, CEO of Suncor Energy, and Canadian Governor General Michäelle Jean to develop the 2008 Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference, bringing together Canada’s next generation of leadership for 15 days in June 2008. More than 90% of the mid-career participants rated the Conference as the best they had ever attended. Ian also managed the 2004 Conference for Conference chair Paul Desmarais, Jr.

Ian was named to the Queen’s Honours List for 2008 and inducted into the prestigious Victorian Order in by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace in June 2008.

Ian founded TSA in 1990 to counsel clients in the private and public sectors. TSA's corporate goal has been to blend into one team a group of individuals with exceptional skills in public affairs, communications, media and government relations.

Prior to consulting, Ian worked in senior positions in the Government of Canada and national media. From 1985 to 1987, Ian served the Prime Minister of Canada as Deputy Principal Secretary and, from 1983 to 1985, as Director of Communications. Ian directed communications for the “Yes Committee” that united the federal Progressive Conservative and Canadian Alliance Parties in 2003

Ian worked as a journalist and commentator for several national and international media organizations. Between 1973 and 1983, Ian reported for Reuters, the Montréal Gazette and Maclean's newsweekly, for which he contributed numerous major articles and cover stories. During his journalism career, he was a frequent public affairs commentator on radio and television. Ian won the National Business Writing Award for his analysis of the rapidly changing business environment in his native Québec.

In 1988, he served as Executive Director for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Eighth Commonwealth Study Conference, which brought 200 young international leaders from business, government and labour to Canada for a 14-day development program. He is currently working on a book about the Duke of Edinburgh and the history of the Study Conferences.

Ian is a graduate of the Directors’ Education Program from Canada’s Institute for Corporate Directors. He sits on the boards of the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Commonwealth Study Conferences in Canada, the Traffic Injury Research Foundation, and Red Sky Performance, a leading artistic company shaping contemporary indigenous dance and music.
